"The route consultation helped me understand which paths around Vantaa were realistic for my current ability. Having a structured starting point made a real difference in how I approached the first few weeks."
"I attended the cycling workshop as someone who had never ridden in a group before. The safety section gave me context I didn't know I was missing. The instructors were clear and the pace was well managed."
"Joining the Espoo Lakeshore group was the right step for me. The group size is manageable, the ride coordinators know the routes well, and the shared stops make it a social outing as much as a ride."
From first contact to your first group ride — the process is straightforward and designed around your availability.
First step
Browse the available membership options and select one that aligns with how frequently you plan to ride and what level of program access you want.
Second step
New members are invited to a short group orientation held at our Vantaa location, where you meet the coordinators and receive your route pack.
Third step
Select from the weekly ride schedule and join a group matched to your preferred pace. Rides depart every week across multiple difficulty levels.
These are the organisational values that inform how rides are planned, how programs are structured and how the community operates.
Every ride includes a pre-departure briefing. Coordinators hold first aid awareness and each group carries basic equipment.
Groups are organised by target pace, not by experience label. Anyone who fits the pace range is welcome in that group.
Routes are maintained by coordinators who cycle them regularly. Seasonal conditions, surface changes and closures are updated consistently.
Programs are built on practical knowledge, not aspirational promises. Content is reviewed by experienced cyclists before being shared with members.
Rides run weekly regardless of weather conditions (within safe limits). Members can plan around a predictable calendar.
Ride coordinators are community members who contribute their time. This keeps the organisation focused on collective value.
Our base in Vantaa is reachable by public transport, with ride departure points across the metropolitan area.
Routes are chosen with minimal environmental impact. We encourage cycling as a transport mode, not only a leisure activity.
If you have a question not covered here, contact us directly through the contact page.
Most of our routes are accessible on road bikes, hybrid bikes or touring bikes. Mountain bikes are also welcome on gravel and forest routes. We recommend any roadworthy bicycle that fits the terrain listed in each ride's description.
The introductory ride is a short group outing on one of our beginner-suitable routes. It includes a brief introduction to our group cycling guidelines and gives you an opportunity to meet other members and coordinators informally. No commitment is required to attend.
Yes. The cycling workshops are designed with no assumed prior knowledge. Content begins with the very basics — bicycle safety, road position and simple maintenance — before progressing to more specific topics. Participants are encouraged to ask questions at any point.
Winter rides continue on a reduced schedule between November and March. Routes are selected for maintained paths and appropriate surface conditions. Members are notified of any cancellations at least 24 hours in advance through our regular communication channel.
Members can cancel their membership at any time with a 30-day written notice. Refund eligibility for membership fees depends on the applicable terms outlined in our Refund Policy. Please review that document or contact us for specific queries.
No membership required to attend your first outing. Explore one of our beginner routes alongside current members and see whether Jointscartilage is the right fit for you.
